Human Hair vs Synthetic Hair extensions: What’s the Difference?

Nowadays, women are given the option to be more expressive with their hair with the use of hair extensions. Whether they are needed due to medical conditions or simply for fashion, hair extensions have become a part of women’s lifestyle. Hair extensions have been constantly changing through the years. In terms of material, they can be made from human hair or synthetic hair. But what is the difference between the two?

Human Hair

Human hair is most desirable when looking for quality. It offers the most natural feel and look of hair. Users who want to invest in hair extensions that could be used for a long time should choose human hair extensions. Another advantage of owning human hair extensions is the freedom to style it: human hair extensions can be heated and colored like your own hair. They’re easier to work with and give you more room to express your personality.

However, human hair extensions also have certain disadvantages. For one, human hair is much more difficult to maintain compared to synthetic hair extensions. Another one is that human hair extensions are more expensive. If you are willing to invest in more expensive hair extensions and have the patience to style and maintain them on a daily basis, then human hair extensions are for you.

Synthetic Hair

Synthetic hair extensions are not so good in terms of the quality and appearance. If you are looking for convenience, however, synthetic hair extensions are preferable because they’re easy to manage and have a fixed style, unlike human hair extensions that need constant maintenance and styling. Having said that, this makes them lacking in versatility. Their fragility is also something to take into consideration: synthetic hair has a lifespan of 1 to 3 months, depending on the quality of the product.

As with many things, there are advantages and disadvantages to weigh and evaluate when choosing what type of hair extension you want. No matter what your choice is, though, make sure to get the advice of professional hair stylists like Lucinda Ellery when the time comes for you to apply and maintain the extensions.
